BCSO 2nd Chance K9 Program

Butte County Sheriff's Office

The BCSO 2nd Chance K9 for Veteran’s program is a collaboration between BCSO, Butte County Veteran’s Services, and Northwest SPCA.
Dogs that are in the care of Northwest SPCA are brought to the BCSO 2nd Chance K9 program when SPCA deems them not adoptable due to behavioral reasons.
Butte County Sheriff’s Office Alternative Custody Supervision Participants, who have been trained in dog training techniques, train the dogs to be good companion animals. Once the dogs are trained, they are available for adoption by a Veteran who can benefit from the companionship a trained dog can provide.
